If You’re Not Losing Weight… Are You Actually Trying?

Let’s cut the BS

If you’re struggling to lose weight and you’re frustrated, you are far from alone.

So many people swear they’re “doing everything right” and still not seeing results.

I’ve been there too.

But before you throw in the towel and blame your metabolism, your hormones, your stress, your age, or Mercury in retrograde, we need to get brutally honest:

Are you actually doing the things required to lose weight… or are you kind of half-assing it and hoping for the best?

This is not about shame!!

This is about ownership.

Because ownership is where real change happens. \

1. Are You Really Tracking What You Eat?

Listen… a calorie deficit is not a suggestion. It’s the requirement for fat loss.

And I can’t tell you how many times someone swears they’re in one, and they’re absolutely not.

Let’s talk common sabotage:

Bites, licks, and tastes: You know exactly what I’m talking about. A handful of nuts while cooking, a spoonful of your kid’s mac & cheese, the extra drizzle of creamer… that stuff counts.

“I can eyeball it” No. You can’t.

I couldn’t either when I started. Grab a food scale. Weigh it. Learn portions. It’s data, not punishment.

Weekend brain: Restricting Mon–Fri then going feral on Saturday and Sunday? Yeah… that will absolutely erase your deficit.

If it’s not tracked, it’s a guess.

And guesses don’t get results.

Its like trying to put makeup on with your eyes shut

2. You Cannot Out-Sit Your Diet

I love you enough to say this: most people do not move enough.

If you’re averaging 2,000 steps a day and wondering why the scale won’t budge, that’s your answer.

Start simple:

Aim to slowly increase steps: 3,000 → 5,000 → 7,500 → 10,00

Get a structured strength routine (not random TikTok workouts)

Stand up more. Walk after meals. Park farther away. Move.

Movement isn’t just exercise. It’s an all-day thing.

3. Laziness Is Normal… But It Can’t Run Your Life

Yes, I said it. And I’ll say it again.

We live in a world that makes it very easy not to move and even easier to pretend we’re “trying.”

Netflix asks if you’re still watching for a reason.

DoorDash is always ready to enable your inner trash panda.

Convenience is great... until it costs you your health.

Hard question time:

Are you skipping workouts because it’s easier not to go?

Are you putting in actual effort, or just thinking about it?

If you want change, you’re going to have to work for it.

4. Real Results Require Real Effort

Weight loss is not supposed to be effortless. If it was, everyone would be walking around shredded.

Consistency beats perfection.

Small choices add up.

You don’t have to be extreme ... you just have to be committed.

This takes time. It takes patience. It takes honesty.

5. Your Mindset Will Make or Break You

If you approach fat loss like you’re being punished, you’ll fight it the whole way.

Instead, try this shift:

“I have to track this” → “I want data so I can win.”

“I can’t eat that” → “I’m choosing what aligns with my goals.”

“This is taking forever” → “My body is changing, and that’s worth the time.”

Your body follows your thoughts. Make sure they’re on your team.

Let’s Wrap This Up

If you’re not losing weight, it doesn’t mean you’re broken.

It might mean you need to get more honest with your effort, your tracking, your movement, and your choices.

And that’s a good thing, because it means you have control.

You deserve results. But results require work.

Do the work.

Show up.

Keep going.

And remember my motto: We don’t quit. Ever.
